Helm showcased its expertise in large-scale industrial construction by executing a complex upgrade at a major food processing plant. This project required 142,000 workhours across process and utility piping, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work. The team installed over 12 air handling units, 114,000 pounds of sheet metal, and nearly 45,000 linear feet of piping using materials such as stainless steel, copper, cast iron, and food-grade hoses. With stringent sanitary and operational requirements, precision and efficiency were critical to the project’s success.
To overcome the challenges of integrating diverse piping systems and advanced HVAC components, Helm utilized Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination. These technologies enabled off-site fabrication, streamlined installation, and minimized on-site disruptions. The inclusion of heat trace and instrument wiring further optimized system performance. By combining cutting-edge technology with expert craftsmanship, Helm delivered a highly efficient and reliable facility upgrade, reinforcing its reputation as a leader in mechanical and electrical construction.
