Rock Island Water Filtration Plant
Helm was the prime contractor on the Rock Island Water Filtration plant in the Quad Cities of Illinois and Iowa. The $20 million project provides filtered water for the city and surrounding area. In addition to construction of an administration and process building, the treatment systems included new filters and media, backwash supply pumping system, UV reactors and associated controls as well as a plant SCADA system. The new system complements and partially replaces the existing system that dates back to 1908. Helm has a long history of working for the city of Rock Island on major infrastructure improvements and, similar to the other projects, self-performed most trade work while also handling the contract management.
