John Deere Road Overpass Retaining Wall
The new overpass bridge on John Deere Road in Moline, Illinois required two different types of retaining structures. The approaches and abutments were supported with MSE – Mechanically Stabilized Earth Walls up to 24 feet tall and a total of 1800 feet in length. For other portions of the project, drilled shaft soldier pile with timber lagging were used to support the slope. A one-sided concrete cast-in-place wall was attached to the soldier piles for this 1000-foot section.
