Position Overview

This position will be responsible for taking care of existing clients, prospecting for new accounts, providing clients with product services/information, maintaining existing client relationships, developing sales presentations, and following through with each client and opportunity. This position also has responsibility for estimating and providing technical solutions, client correspondence, quality assurance (QA) support, and industry and trade show participation. This position reports to Operations Manager.

This position is for our service division which is responsible for servicing, maintaining, and replacing HVAC and plumbing systems and equipment in buildings such as K-12 schools, hospitals and associated healthcare buildings, high-rise buildings, and other commercial building types.  This role is located in our Lenexa, KS office.

Key Responsibilities

Within the limits of company policies, plans and approved budgets and consistent with management philosophy. The Project Development Manager has the responsibility and authority to accomplish the following duties:

  • Aligning with Helm Service’s written philosophy of sales, established processes, and procedures related to sales.
  • Seeking out and researching prospective clients and/or projects through various methods including contacting prospective client Chief Engineer, Property Managers, and/or Asset Managers, etc.
  • Prospecting new leads, qualifying sales calls, preparing proposals and quotations, negotiating and managing sales cycle to close sales.
  • Making phone calls, site visits, attending conferences and leveraging existing relationships.
  • Introducing, developing, and maintaining relationships with prospective clients.
  • Working with leadership along with other Team members to review and improve account programs and processes to meet targeted objectives.
  • Managing through analysis and solution-based programs to maximize sales growth, volume, and profitability of account clients.
  • Preparing and delivering client presentations.
  • Developing, writing, and reviewing client proposal documents including financial and technical sections, using standard templates and pricing models.
  • Developing sales at defined margin levels to attain market share.
  • Demonstrating a personal commitment to your growth and development, including attending product trade shows and sales training events, and participating in all professional training provided by Helm Service.
  • Keeping informed of industry information of interest to customers. Tracking industry trends. Checking competitive activity. Developing methods of attaining new business.
  • Reaching your annual sales plan.
  • Ensure project sales files are maintained
  • Participate in negotiating for better vendor/subcontractor pricing

Requirements

The person in the position must be able to physically perform jobsite visits. Further requirements of this position are as follows:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite Programs (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong customer service skills and technical ability.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the mechanical trade industry, preferably in project development, technical sales, or similar role
  • Apprenticeship, trade school, and college degrees in the mechanical field are all acceptable
    • Field knowledge and experience will be evaluated in lieu of these requirements

Salary & Benefits

Range: $100,000-$120,000
