Central Park Pump Station

Chicago, IL

Helm constructed a new environmentally friendly, water pumping system that is designed to save the city of Chicago $4 million per year in operating cost.  Central Park is one of 12 city pumping stations that provides water to over 40% of the population of the state of Illinois.  Central Park was originally built in 1899 with steam-powered pumps.  As part of the project, the old pumps were upgraded to electric pumps with VFDs that can adapt to the changing water demands in the city.
